Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 23, 2026

The short version: Your syllabus text is processed in real time and never stored on our servers. We collect minimal analytics to improve the product. We don't sell your data. Ever.

What We Collect

Syllabus content: When you paste or upload a syllabus, the text is sent to our AI model for parsing. The parsed events are returned to your browser. We do not store the raw syllabus text on our servers — it is discarded after processing.

Parsed events: If you create an account and save courses, your extracted events (dates, assignment names, exam titles) are stored in your account so you can access them later. You can delete saved courses at any time.

Account information: If you sign up, we store your email address and display name. Passwords are hashed and managed securely through our authentication provider (Supabase).

Usage analytics: We collect anonymized, non-personal analytics including: number of syllabi parsed, export format used, and general usage patterns. These contain no personally identifiable information.

What We Don't Collect

We do not collect, sell, or share any personal information beyond what's listed above. Specifically, we do not track you across other websites, serve ads, build advertising profiles, or share data with third parties for marketing purposes.

How We Use Your Data

Your data is used solely to provide and improve the SyllabusAI service. This includes parsing syllabi, generating flashcards and study plans, sending reminder emails (if you opt in), and improving the accuracy of our AI parsing.

Third-Party Services

SyllabusAI uses the following third-party services to operate:

Anthropic (Claude AI) — processes syllabus text to extract events. Syllabus text is sent to Anthropic's API for parsing and is subject to Anthropic's privacy policy.

Supabase — provides database hosting and authentication services.

Vercel — hosts the website and API functions.

Google Calendar API — if you choose to sync events to Google Calendar, we request only the minimum permissions needed to create calendar events. We do not read your existing calendar data.

Google Calendar Integration

When you connect Google Calendar, SyllabusAI requests permission to create events in your calendar. We do not access, read, modify, or delete any existing events. You can revoke access at any time through your Google Account settings.

Cookies & Local Storage

SyllabusAI uses browser local storage to save your parsed events, course names, and preferences locally on your device. We use a minimal authentication cookie for logged-in sessions. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics cookies.

Data Retention & Deletion

Syllabus text is processed in real time and not retained. Account data is stored until you delete your account. Anonymized analytics are retained indefinitely. To delete your account and all associated data, email us at tarangjammalamadaka9@gmail.com.

Security

We use industry-standard security practices including HTTPS encryption, secure authentication, and row-level database security. All API endpoints are rate-limited to prevent abuse.

Children's Privacy

SyllabusAI is designed for college and university students. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated through the website. Continued use of SyllabusAI after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
