Terms of Service

Last updated: June 10, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of SyllabusAI ("we", "us", "the Service"), available at syllabusai.net. By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

1. The Service

SyllabusAI is an AI-powered study companion that parses academic syllabi (pasted text, uploaded PDFs, or URLs) and creates calendar-ready events for each deadline. The Service can optionally sync those events to your Google Calendar, and offers AI study features built on your course context — chat, flashcards, study plans, and exam prep.

2. Eligibility and Account

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age in your country) to use SyllabusAI. To save courses, sync to Google Calendar, or access Pro features, you must create an account. You are responsible for safeguarding your account credentials and for activity under your account.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

4. Free and Pro Tiers

The Service is offered in two tiers:

Tier limits and pricing may change with reasonable notice. Active Pro subscribers will be notified at least 30 days before any price increase affecting their plan.

5. Your Content

You retain ownership of any syllabus content you submit to the Service. By submitting content, you grant us a limited license to process it solely for the purpose of providing the Service (parsing dates, creating calendar events, returning them to you). We do not sell your content. We do not use your syllabi as training data for our AI models or any third party's models.

6. Google API Services

SyllabusAI uses Google APIs (specifically the Google Calendar API) when you connect Google Calendar. We request only the https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar.events scope, which lets the Service create and manage the calendar events it generates for you. We do not read, list, or modify other events on your calendar.

Google Limited Use Disclosure: SyllabusAI's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

7. Privacy

How we collect, use, and protect your data is described in our Privacy Policy. By using the Service you also accept the Privacy Policy.

8. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its UI, code, branding, and AI parsing models, is owned by SyllabusAI and protected by intellectual-property laws. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute the Service except as permitted by these Terms.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. AI parsing is best-effort — we do not guarantee that every deadline in your syllabus will be detected, or that detected dates are always correct. Always double-check parsed events before relying on them for academic deadlines.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, SyllabusAI is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $50, whichever is greater.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service or delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that pose security or abuse risk, with notice when practical.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced via the Changelog or by email if you have an account. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in California.
